How to Play Gamecube Backups on Your Wii Without a Modchip.: Ever wish you could play those GameCube backups on your Wii? Well with my help you can.How it works: The Wii has two modes; a wii mode that lets you play wii games and a GameCube mode that restricts the access of the wii to its wii systems and let. Please note that the Wii Remote cannot be used to play GameCube games, and that standard GameCube controllers or the wireless WaveBird variant are required. Simply plug any GameCube controllers, including WaveBird controllers, into the GameCube controller sockets on the Wii and select the game in the top-left channel on your Wii Menu.
Hi there! Recently I've been reading in a few forums and maybe an article or two that basically say that the Wii U is TECHNICALLY able to play gamecube games but nintendo has disabled this much like how they disabled it with the new model of the Wii. Plus there are no gamecube ports and therefore cannot use gamecube controller. Confused? Well, I just found this article reminding me of this so I'll post the relevant information here.
Hackers have already managed to boot GC code on the Wii U via a back-compat hack, suggesting that the hardware is perfectly capable of running GameCube titles, but the lack of a physical interface with the old controller is the sticking point. ![]() Basically, it seems if you hack the Wii U, you can boot gamecube games on it HOWEVER, its impossible to actually play them due to the lack of gamecube controller. Here's a video demonstration: ![]() Can Play Gamecube Games On Wii Uhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rlcVdL8r9lk Play Gamecube On Wii UsbUnforunately I have no way of telling if a wii u, wii or gamecube was used and furthermore, if any of these supposed hackers actually exist and if they really did manage this. BUT! I wonder... could, in the forseeable future, the wii u be modded to play gamecube games? I myself would not do it, but its interesting to see.

How it works: The Wii has two modes; a wii mode that lets you play wii games and a GameCube mode that restricts the access of the wii to its wii systems and lets you play GameCube games. While in the Gamecube mode it is almost impossible to access most of the normal Wii functions, and most importantly, it is almost impossible to access any homebrew application. The rungcbackup.dol copies the gcbackup launcher to memory and changes to GameCube mode and also patches the DVD read functions in memory, to make reading DVR-r's in Gamecube mode possible. This is technically able to block your wii, but will most likely result in you not being able to play GameCube games, but this can be solved in the future when a GameCube Mios fixer/restorer is released. Before you do this instructable you need to already have The Homebrew Channel, DVDx, Wii backup launcher 0.3 gamma with cIOS7 on your wii. Since the process to do that is long and since someone else already posted an instructable how to do that, follow this instructable before you start to do this hack. Note that the WII backup launcher is unable to play Gamecube backups, that's why you need Gamecube backup launcher to play Gamecube backups. I AM NOT THE AUTHOR OF THIS PROGRAM. Wiigator (The actually author of Gamecube backup launcher 0.1 Theta/Xi and Wii backup launcher 0.3 gamma.) has a warning for all of us. It is prohibited to use any of the software to illegally copy games, they are intended only to create and play legal backups of games that you own. In some countries or regions it is still illegal to make copies of games that you own, check with your local authorities if you are unsure. I cannot be held responsible for any misuse of these programs. The use of any of the above software is done so at your own risk. If you mess something up or anything undesirable (i.e.: loss of warranty, brick, lawsuits, jail time) happens because of any of these programs, it is your own fault. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! If you have any questions at all it's better if you ask before you start messing with your Wii. Comments are closed.
